In the first half of 2025, total Danish exports of pigmeat excluding live pigs amounted to 616,850 tonnes. Including live pigs, the figure is 883,207 tonnes. The total value is DKK 17.99 billion. Compared with the same period in 2024, this is a fall of 3.2 per cent in volume and 12.4 per cent in value. The development largely reflects lower settlement prices while overall demand was relatively stable.

The ten largest export markets accounted for 730,164 tonnes and a value of DKK 14.33 billion, which is lower than the previous year. Exports to other markets amounted to 153,043 tonnes at a value of DKK 3.66 billion. The figures indicate that Denmark continues to occupy a strong position in the key markets, but that price pressure and global market conditions are impacting earnings.

At the same time, Danish pig production continues to show high levels of efficiency and productivity, which are expected to lead to a rise of 3.8 per cent in Danish pig production (slaughter and export) in 2025 – a rise of almost 1.2 million pigs compared to last year, through targeted breeding work, improved feed conversion and greater digitalisation in production. At the same time, exports of weaned piglets are expected to increase by around 750,000 animals in 2025 while slaughtering is expected to rise by more than 400,000 pigs. Together, this will strengthen competitiveness and contribute to maintaining Denmark’s role as a key player in the international market.
