Deep-dive session on antibiotic usage in Danish livestock production
The use of antibiotics in livestock production in European countries has been falling for the past several years. EU countries have reached one-third of the way towards the goal of halving usage from 2018 to 2030. In the 25 EU/EEA countries, usage in animal production has fallen by 46.5% from 2011-2022 and in Denmark, the critically important antibiotics fluoroquinolones, 3rd and 4th generation cephalosporines and polymyxins (colistin) are not used at all.
On 21 November at 14.30, Jan Dahl, Veterinary Epidemiologist from the Danish Agriculture and Food Council, will give a presentation on Danish efforts to reduce antibiotic usage in Danish pig production. Jan Dahl has been working in this area since the early 90s and will also explain how this and other factors relating to animal health and disease protection have provided a foundation for global market access.
