Danish pigs among the world’s most efficient

According to the latest InterPIG figures (2021), Denmark is one of the most productive countries in the world when it comes to pig breeding - both in terms of pigs weaned per year and daily gain. Denmark had the lowest production costs per kg carcass according to the EU-InterPIG report for 2021. Denmark achieved a result of DKK 0.30/kg carcass, surpassed only by the USA, Canada and Brazil. The USA achieved the best result of DKK 2.76/kg carcass.
This is primarily due to an efficient breeding programme as well as the ability of pig producers to implement new knowledge. If, therefore, we assess production costs in countries with significant pig production, Denmark is the leader. Denmark had the lowest production costs in Europe in 2021 and was significantly better than other pig-producing countries. Denmark is doing its utmost to maintain this position.
